This! I recently thought about how meditation can help with anxiety attacks but not that they can be fixed in a snap or that some deep breathing can magically reduce your heart rate to resting. That it's more the mindset, to be self-aware and accept—and THAT is what can center you within your thoughts or current state. No one gets centered by forcefully trying to beat back "bad" thoughts or states of mind.
